On the 6th and 7th June, consultants, designers and those working in project offices from across Portugal, gathered together for two events on the hygienic requirements of air handling units (AHUs) in energy-efficient buildings. EFRIARC (Portuguese Association of Industrial Cold and Air Conditioning Engineers) and Eurovent Certita Certification (ECC) joined forces to present the technical seminars on consecutive evenings, with the first event held on Tuesday 6th June in Lisbon, at the Hotel Ramada Lisbon, and the second on 7th June in Porto, at the Hotel Dom Henrique.
With an identical schedule for both events, the technical seminars started at 3.30pm with a welcome coffee, before the first speaker took to the stage at 4pm. Ana Fernandes from EFRIARC opened with a presentation on the ‘Challenges in the selection of AHUs for use in Health Units’. While ECC’s Sandrine Marinhas was next up to present ‘Improving indoor air quality and energy efficiency: revealing the hygienic air treatment unit programme’.
After a short coffee break, Helena Ribeiro from Sandomental tackled the topic of, ‘Eurovent certified hygienic AHU in a hospital environment’. Last, but not least, Pedro Pereira from Systemair presented, ‘Hygienic certification of air handling units – the need for transparency and standardisation’.
The Portugal events built on the successful Hygienic AHU technical seminar in Milan, Italy, back in November 2022. Just like the Milan event, there was the opportunity to network and discuss the evening’s presentations over a cocktail and dinner. Guests left around 11pm, full of good food and improved knowledge of hygienic AHUs.
