Some 450+ exhibitors and 35,000 attendees from 40 counties visited South Asia’s largest HVAC show, Acrex India, over three days from 14th - 16th March 2023. Organised by ISHRAE (Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers) in collaboration with Informa Markets, the exhibition and conference took place at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai, offering a full line up of workshops and seminars. Returning after a four year break, the show focussed on the Indian market, and the dual objectives of engineering towards net zero and advancing sustainability objectives of the HVAC sector.

Eurovent Certita Certification (ECC) was a Titanium partner in the event, and also held a booth in Hall 1, at Stall 20. Two of the ECC team joined an impressive line-up of speakers, with Industry and Technical Advisor, PK Goel, presenting ‘Scaling up net zero efforts with an efficient air side backed by independent verification’ on the 13th March, and Head of International Affairs & Partnerships, Eric Foucherot, presenting ‘Energy Efficient Ventilation: Investors should take control’ on the 14th March. It was a true team effort from the Eurovent family with colleagues from Eurovent India, ECC, Eurovent and Eurovent Middle East attending the show.  

Acrex India 2023 highlighted the potential of India’s HVAC Industry, and offered the opportunity to advocate the added value of performance based products and design, entrusted by third-party certification. The presentations went down extremely well, with PK Goel’s seminar covering three core areas of net zero, energy efficient airside, and independent verification and commissioning. His presentation had a particular focus on net zero definitions, components and ‘scope’ according to global bodies, scaling up airside equipment and airside system design to reduce energy consumption, third-party certified equipment, independent certified commissioning, and performance based rebates.  

Eric Foucherot’s presentation was part of the Engineering towards Net Zero seminar sessions co-orgainised by ISHRAE and REHVA. He covered specific Ecodesign aspects such as mandatory energy recovery on ventilation systems, following on with initial responsibilities of architects and investors to allocate the right design and CAPEX for efficient systems. The presentation highlighted the responsibility of HVACR industry to improve the decision power of "End Riskers", Investors first, and support the Capex/Opex arbitration. This should also support Incentivisation policies to level up market practices, beyond usual market protection based on MEPS.

The show was a great success for everyone involved, with recognition for Eurovent certified equipment noticeably growing in India.
