Each year, REHVA, the Federation of European Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Associations, organises a competition in Europe to honour and recognise the most outstanding HVAC students. This year’s final was held at the 68th REHVA Annual Meeting in Istanbul, Turkey. On 16th May, 15 students from 13 countries presented to the judging panel, then nervously waited to see who would be crowned the winner of this year’s student competition. Eurovent Certification is a long-standing sponsor of the awards, with Mustafa Dilsen, Project Manager, on hand to present the prizes.
Prior to the competition, each REHVA member association is allowed to nominate one candidate per country, following its own national competitions. The works submitted to the competition are based on a master's or bachelor's theses and can be on any topic in the field of heating, ventilation, or air conditioning. In addition, a ‘Best Poster’ award is granted based on the scientific level of the submission, and the graphical quality of the poster.
The competition is fierce and provides a platform for participants to showcase their skills and knowledge. This year’s finalists included:

The winner is awarded a prestigious trophy engraved with their name, which has proudly borne the names of all the winners since 2005. This trophy is then passed on to the following year's winner.
This year the top prize went to Portugal’s João Mota, who impressed the jury with his presentation. Second prize was received by Italian student Marco Bizzari and third place was secured by the French team, Ninon Gauthier and Roxane Viala. The Best Poster award was granted to Angelika Václavová.
Eurovent Certification is a dedicated sponsor of the student award, using it as an opportunity to both encourage and recognise the rising stars of the industry. Mustafa Dilsen had the pleasure of awarding all the prizes and said of the awards, “Once again the judging panel had their work cut out as the quality of the participants work was extremely high. Congratulations go to João Mota for his outstanding thesis and to all the finalists for their achievements.”
