Eurovent Certita Certification (ECC) was delighted to present at the ‘Joint West Asia and Europe and Central Asia Twinning Workshop of National Ozone Officers, National Energy Efficiency Policymakers, and Financial Mechanisms Focal Points to Support Kigali Amendment Objectives’ OzonAction event from 25th-26th September. Organised by the UN Environment Programme, the event was held in Amman, The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
The line-up of speakers featured ECC’s very own Senior Technical Manager, Dr. Ali Alexandre NOUR EDDINE, who presented on ‘Incentivization, Energy Labelling, Product Certification, and Market Data’ on 26th September at 11:30am. Dr Ali presented insights cementing the importance of harnessing certified products and data in achieving the timelines set out by the Montreal Protocol. He also showed the importance of the Eurovent package as a valuable asset for governments to study the market status and future trends.
The UN Environment Programme is an Implementing Agency of the Multilateral Fund of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer. OzonAction strengthens the capacity of governments - particularly the operational focal points known as National Ozone Units - and industry in developing countries to elaborate and enforce the policies required to implement the Protocol, and to make informed decisions about alternative technologies. Events such as the OzonAction workshop are central to achieving the overall goal to enable those countries to meet and sustain their compliance obligations under the treaty.
At the heart of the event are the National Ozone Officers, who are in the “driver’s seat” of national implementation of the Montreal Protocol. OzonAction assists all 147 developing countries ("Article 5 countries") through its Regional Networks of National Ozone Officers, a highly-successful and cost-effective capacity building mechanism under the Multilateral Fund that promotes the exchange of information, experience and know-how between countries on how to meet Montreal Protocol commitments, report data, set and enforce policies, adopt technologies and effectively manage their national programmes.
