From Wednesday 25th to Saturday 28th October, the Istanbul Expo Center played host to the 16th ISK-SODEX trade fair in Istanbul, Turkey. The biennial event connects the climatisation industry worldwide, bringing together the international HVAC&R, insulation, pump, valve, fittings, water treatment, fire prevention, pool and solar energy sectors under one roof. With this year’s theme being 'Healthy Climate Solutions', there was the opportunity for the full Eurovent family to get involved. Eurovent Association was an International Supporter Association, while the team from Eurovent Certita Certification (ECC), ProdBIM, and Eurovent Market Intelligence set up stall in exhibition hall 4 at booth E01.
It was a big show for the team, which featured the Eurovent Certified Performance Programme for Hygienic Air Handling Units, a presentation on “Unlocking IAQ Excellence: Hygienic AHU Market & Certification with Eurovent,” and the opportunity to strengthen the partnership between ProdBIM, Eurovent Certita Certification and ISKAV (Isıtma Soğutma Klima Araştırma ve Eğitim Vakfı). Celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the Turkish Republic were also in full swing throughout the show, adding to the excitement at the exhibition.
This year nearly 1,000 brands exhibited from 19 countries, with a staggering 89,694 visitors attending the trade fair. As well as hosting the globe’s leading brands, ISK-SODEX featured 25 sectoral forums and panels across the four-days. Of these panels, the first session on October 26th in Hall 5, was, "Unlocking IAQ Excellence: Hygienic AHU Market & Certification with Eurovent," led by Mustafa Dilsen, ECC Programme Manager, Beyza Aykurt, Market Analyst at Eurovent Market Intelligence, and Orhun Aksoy, Boreas Sales Manager. The session was designed to transform delegate’s understanding of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), redefine industry standards and introduce a new era of certified hygiene and performance in the HVAC market.
First up on the panel, Mustafa explained the background to Eurovent certification and the importance of verifying product performance, giving real life examples of the potential costs involved when using uncertified and underperforming products. Next he moved onto a comprehensive overview of the Eurovent Hygienic AHU certification process, explaining the three star system and expanding upon the benefits of a scheme that certifies products are compliant with VDI standards, and designed to reach a high level of indoor air quality. He showcased the unique qualities that sets Eurovent Certified Performance apart, before closing his segment by giving delegates a brief glimpse of ECC’s new hygienic AHU app.
Next up, Beyza covered industry insights from Eurovent Market Intelligence, allowing delegates to understand the latest trends and emerging opportunities in Turkey and beyond. Her presentation focussed on the main structure of the AHU market in terms of capacity, energy class, applications, equipment etc, while directly comparing both the European and Turkish market. She concluded her presentation by highlighting how health is one of the most important applications in Turkey, and has a higher share in the market compared to the European average. Therefore, Turkey is one of the countries where the hygienic AHU certification has high relevance and importance.
Finally Boreas Sales Manager, Orhun Aksoy, stood up to tell the manufacturers story of certification. He highlighted the tangible benefits that certification brings in achieving and maintaining superior standards in performance, as well as building trust with customers. As a participant in Eurovent’s Hygienic Air Handling Unit programme, Orhun discussed how that particular scheme added value to Boreas products. He concluded the panel discussion by sharing a case study on a city hospital project, where 62 hygienic air AHUs were installed.
Carrying on the theme of superior Indoor Air Quality, over on the stand in Hall 4, the team celebrated enhancements to the Hygienic Air Handling Unit programme with the release of a new app to help guide industry professionals through the essential components used in hygienic AHUs. Created by LearnMeUp, the new hygienic air handling unit app aims to explore the added features of hygienic systems that elevate IAQ to superior levels. The exhibition also offered an excellent opportunity to catch up with certified manufacturers old and new, and talk to industry professionals about the wider benefits of certification.
Collaboration was also high on the agenda with trusted partner, ISKAV. The show enabled the bonds between ECC, ProdBIM and ISKAV to be strengthened, with ISKAV opening doors for Turkish manufacturers to expand digitally in the world of Building Information Modeling (BIM). With the Turkish government introducing subsidies to facilitate companies in their BIM transformation journey, the timing has never been better for Turkish manufacturers to transition digitally. The best news is that ProdBIM are the experts in all things digital. Offering services to guide both certified and non-certified manufacturers every step of the way, ensuring a seamless transition into the BIM digital era.
The ISK-SODEX exhibition was a great success, living up to its reputation as a juggernaut of HVAC&R exhibitions. Our thanks go to all those who attended our booth, visited the panel session and talked to the team about certification, data and digitalisation.
