Eurovent Certification has welcomed the first products to be certified under the new and improved Eurovent Certified Performance programme for Fans. Developed in collaboration with the Air Movement and Control Association (AMCA) International Inc, the revamped programme has combined AMCA certification protocols and Eurovent Certification’s audit process. German manufacturer, ZIEHL-ABEGG, is the first past the post to gain the new certification, which evaluates fans intended for use in Air Handling Units (AHUs).
Redevelopment of the programme started back in the spring of 2023, with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Eurovent Certification, the Eurovent trade association, AMCA International and two of its regional organizations: the European Air Movement and Control Association (EU AMCA) and the Asia Air Movement and Control Association (ASIA AMCA). Eurovent Certification and AMCA International then got to work on an added-value fan certification programme, with the aim of offering a more dynamic approach to certifying products. By November the new programme was ready to launch, and on the 5th of March 2024 the first certificates were granted to ZIEHL-ABEGG.
Aiming to tear down the administrative and cost barriers that fan manufacturers face when certifying products, the scheme combines the best of AMCA and Eurovent into a single groundbreaking certification programme. Products are first evaluated under the renowned AMCA certification protocols, according to their most-current testing and rating standards. This includes aspects such as air flow rates and available pressure, with options for certifying acoustic characteristics and energy efficiency. Once products have achieved AMCA certification, they can apply for the Eurovent Certified Performance mark for Fans by undergoing an initial admission audit. This audit verifies the consistency between what is declared by manufacturers, upheld by AMCA certification, and what is produced and sold by the manufacturer. Products then move onto a surveillance process with annual audits from Eurovent Certification.
ZIEHL-ABEGG was delighted to be the first manufacturer certified under the programme. Simon Engert, Public Affairs at ZIEHL-ABEGG, said “The new programme means we’ve been able to fast-track our certification process like never before. Our fans for AHUs are now proudly bearing both AMCA and Eurovent certifications in record time! For me, this achievement isn't just about meeting industry standards, it's about going above and beyond for our customers. Certification not only provides transparent, reliable performance data, but shows our commitment to excellence. These certifications aren't just badges; they're a testament to the heart and soul we pour into our products every single day and build trust in our products from the very start.”
The revamped certification scheme ensures HVAC professionals and decision makers can be confident that certified products will deliver the performance promised by the manufacturer. Fan certification is available globally, in a joined-up programme designed to keep certification standards high, while reducing manufacturer costs and administrative burden.
