Keen to make an impact on the UK HVAC and refrigeration market, Eurovent Certita Certification (ECC) has joined the ranks of CIBSE Patrons, a group of businesses who collaborate to give financial, technical and moral backing to a wide range of initiatives led by the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE). ECC joins a unique network of consulting engineering practices; manufacturers; trade bodies; training providers and businesses with an interest in building services engineering, that reflect all parts of the building services industry supply chain.

CIBSE is a professional body that exists to advance and promote the art, science and practice of building services engineering, to invest in education and research, and to support the community of built environment professionals in their pursuit of excellence. While the membership is largely UK based, CIBSE boasts 21,000 members in nearly 100 countries. The primary focus of CIBSE Patrons is on improving recruitment and retention of engineers on behalf of the industry at large. The group sponsor bursaries, awards and a range of materials as well as events to support CIBSE’s endeavours in this area, as well as working directly with young engineers.

But the work doesn’t stop there. The expertise within the group is used to encourage the use of best practice in sustainability, health and safety, and procurement, issues on which ECC is perfectly aligned. The CIBSE Patrons network is also developing into a business forum, where members can discuss and learn about matters as diverse as social media, contracting law and how to gain access to export markets.

The Patrons meet regularly to discuss industry and supply chain issues, and to drive forward cross industry initiatives. Patrons are also invited to contribute to CIBSE’s responses to government consultations and to assist the Institution in shaping its own strategic approach to industry developments. 

When it comes to education, Patrons help to shape the CIBSE Knowledge Portal, which gives members free access to every piece of technical guidance produced by the Institution. Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is a key area for members, and one which Patrons are keen to contribute their knowledge to. Patrons can get involved in CIBSE’s programme of debates and technical sessions, held across the UK.
