Certified manufacturer, Swegon, has announced its largest order to date for its Swedish based factories. More than 80 GOLD Air Handing Units (AHUs), as well as air diffusers and chilled beams, will be delivered to Volvo Cars’ new plant for complete construction of electric vehicles in Košice, Slovakia.
The new Volvo plant spans approximately 330,000 square meters and includes several buildings dedicated to the full-scale construction of Volvo’s electric vehicles, from stamping to final assembly.
The Swegon team were delighted to clinch the deal, with Andreas Örje Wellstam, CEO, saying, “This win is a testament to our GOLD air handling unit being a suitable solution also for industrial applications. Our ability to adapt to the customer’s specific demands in this project was crucial. The industrial segment is growing, and this win gives us great confidence and inspiration for the future. Together with our room products, we will secure a good indoor climate with high comfort and low energy consumption in production areas as well as offices.”
Tony Pettersson, Director International Sales at Swegon, added, “We are proud to have won this important order. Our sales and project team have done a great job in matching Volvo Cars’ high expectations. We successfully met the set requirements and enabled future energy savings”.
GOLD has been central to Swegon’s product line up for 30 years, with more than 160,000 units sold across the globe. With fully integrated controls, comprehensive and adaptable functionality to ensure lowest life cycle cost, Swegon’s premium range of air handing units offer a perfect fit for the new factory.
Despite their longevity, GOLD AHUs have sustainability at their core. Not only is energy efficiency and performance guaranteed by the Eurovent Certified Performance mark, but Swegon has also taken steps to reduce the embodied carbon of the units, and extend the lifespan of existing units by introducing a refurb kit; a spare parts solution that upgrades older units (manufactured 1996-2005) to today's controls and functionality.
Being able to trust performance, reliability and energy efficiency is an important step in specifying products for projects such as Volvo Cars’ Košice plant.
