We all know the industry works better when it works together, and so Eurovent Certification strives to make partnerships with some of the leading organisations in the sector. One of our long-term collaborations is with REHVA, the Federation of European Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Associations. For many years we have supported REHVA in its efforts to inspire the next generation of engineers through its student competitions. We also work with REHVA to educate the HVAC industry around creating healthy, comfortable, energy efficient and sustainable indoor environments.
Founded in 1963, REHVA is an umbrella organisation that represents over 120,000 HVAC designers, building services engineers, technicians and experts across 26 European Countries.
Acting as a voice for European HVAC designers and building services engineers, REHVA provides its members a strong platform for international professional networking, and knowledge exchange, pursuing the vision of improving health, comfort, safety and energy efficiency in all buildings and communities.
REHVA contributes to technical and professional development, follows EU policy developments and represents the interest of its members at EU level and globally.
REHVA is committed to advancing its programmes and services for young engineers, through helping them build their professional foundations. This is an area where Eurovent Certification takes a strong interest and acts as the sole sponsor of REHVA’s student awards.
Every year, REHVA organises a competition in Europe to honour and recognise the most outstanding HVAC students. Prior to the competition, each REHVA Member Association is allowed to nominate one entry per country, following their own national level contests. The submitted works for the competition are based on Master's or Bachelor's theses and can encompass any topic within the realm of heating, ventilation, or air conditioning.
The student competitions take place during the REHVA Annual Meetings, providing an ideal platform for the participants to showcase their skills and knowledge. Upon winning, the students are presented with a prestigious trophy engraved with their names. This trophy is then passed on to the subsequent year's winner, having traversed various locations in the past decade. It proudly bears the names of all the winners since 2005, symbolising their remarkable achievements.
In 2016, REHVA established the REHVA World Student competition, now known as the HVAC World Student Competition, in collaboration with six Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) partners: with ASHRAE (USA), CAHVAC (China), FAIAR (South America), ISHRAE (India), SAREK (South Korea) and SHASE (Japan). This partnership aimed to expand the competition's reach and global participation.
Every three years, during the CLIMA World Congress, REHVA becomes the organiser of the competition, featuring one candidate from each partner continent or region. The selection of candidates is undertaken by the respective MoU partner associations. Additionally, in the year of the CLIMA event, the winner of the REHVA Student Competition becomes the European representative in the HVAC World Student Competition.
